Purple A’wear’ness Fashion Show
November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month.

Michael’s on Main in Canon City is hosting a fashion show November 24th at 2:00p.m. to raise funds for Dravet.org. Dravet Syndrome, also known a Severe Myoclonic Epilepsy of Infancy, is a rare and catastrophic form of childhood epilepsy. Colorado has only 5 children with Dravet Syndrome. Three of the five will be walking the runway at Purple A’wear’ness, one of whom, Hailey McGuire, is a resident of Canon City.

Epilepsy… Show more in America is as common as breast cancer, and takes as many lives. Up to 50,000 Americans die each year from seizures and related causes. There are 200,000 new cases each year, and a total of more than 3 million Americans are affected by it—more than multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and Parkinson's disease combined.

Our doors will open at 1:00. The show will start at 2:00

Nicole is the mother of a Dravet child. Though her passion has always been for chemistry, biochemistry, and physics, raising a child with Dravet syndrome has narrowed that scientific focus down to the science of Dravet syndrome, how SCN1A is related to the disorder, and how to bridge the communication gap between doctors, researchers, and parents.
