We’re excited to announce Son Volt as the headliner for the 4th Annual MeadowGrass Music Festival on Memorial Day weekend, featuring three days of national and regional artists performing roots, Americana, bluegrass, indie and blues music. This must-see May 26th concert will be your only chance to see Son Volt live in Colorado in 2012. Join us and be the first to hear music from Son Volt’s new album due out in the fall.
Formed in 1994 by Jay Farrar following the breakup of the seminal alt-country band Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt has released seven albums of original material to critical acclaim, including 2009's American Central Dust on Rounder Records. Also in 2009, Farrar worked with Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard to produce the soundtrack for One Fast Move or I'm Gone, a documentary film about Jack Kerouac. Most recently, Farrar collaborated with Yim Yames of My Morning Jacket, Will Johnson, and Anders Parker on New Multitudes, a new interpretation of unrecorded Woody Guthrie lyrics set for release next month on Rounder.
La Foret is a 400-acre non – profit Conference and Retreat Center in Black Forest, just a 45 minutes south of Denver and a few minutes north of Colorado Springs.
MeadowGrass is the annual La Foret fundraiser for Preservation of Pristine Forest and Historic Buildings. The event has attracted over 3,000 attendees over a 3 day period and is quickly establishing itself as the premier Colorado Springs Music experience. MeadowGrass features local food vendors, Bristol Brewing micro-brewed beer and other local partners.
