Skate-A-Thon

A rolling costume contest is just one of the games skaters will take part in at an all-night charity skate-a-thon hosted by Chick-fil-A at Garden of the Gods. This is the third year of the event honoring the restaurant’s anniversary. Participants stand to earn more than $13,000 in FREE Chicken and prizes… and it’s all for a great cause.
Last year skate-a-thon participants helped raise more than $10,000 for the Dream Centers of Colorado Springs. Through the Center’s Women’s Clinic, the non-profit… Show more organization provides FREE quality medical care to uninsured and underinsured women with unmet health needs. Many of the women are single moms or come from local women’s shelters. One-hundred-percent of the donations go directly to the charity.
To compete in the skate-a-thon participants need to be 18 and older and can use roller blades or skates donated by event sponsor Skate City. The participants are required to continue rolling at all times during the 7 ½ hour event with the exception of 5-minute hourly breaks, a 30-minute nugget break, breaks for contests and extra breaks earned by top fundraisers who raised more than $250 for the charity. Registration is still open.
To help pass time, skaters will have special dance breaks for “The Chicken Dance,” “Cupid Shuffle” and compete in a variety of contests including Skate City favorites: “Limbo” & “Red Light, Green Light.”
The Eat Mor Chikin Cows® will be there (on skates!) to show their support for our skaters at the start and finish of the event. For completing the all-night Skate-A-Thon, participants still rolling on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 6 a.m. will roll into the restaurant to receive their FREE Chick-fil-A Sandwiches for a year (52 sandwiches). Top 10 fundraisers will receive FREE Chick-fil-A Meals for a year (52 meal vouchers).
