Celebrate the New Year as the Japanese do by pounding rice into "mochi" (rice cake) in a Japanese cultural event called "Mochitsuki". Free and open to the public! 10:00 AM to Noon on January 26 at Colorado College's Worner Student Center (NW Corner, Cascade & Cache La Poudre). Sponsored by the Japan America Society of Southern Colorado. The Japanese eat mochi in celebration of the New Year for longevity and prosperity. An outdoor event that will be moved indoors in case of inclement weather.
