Countdown to Kindergarten volunteer orientation
Carnival Volunteers Adults, 21 or older, will help parents prepare their children, birth to 6, to get ready to read. The Carnival features different stations with activities for parents and children to enhance "talking", "singing", "reading", "writing" and "playing". Volunteers will explain to parents how to do the activities and provide examples of other ideas to do at home. Volunteers will help for four hours (one hour set-up; 2 hours for the Carnival… Show more plus 1 hour for cleanup) and will:
•Attend orientation session on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 5 p.m. at Penrose Library
•Have the ability to speak with parents about early literacy skills
•Take direction, facilitate play, and assist children and parents with games, puppets, etc.

•Cheyenne Mountain Library: Saturday, Feb 23, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
•Manitou Springs Library (Business of Art Center): Saturday, Apr 6, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
•Monument Library: Saturday, Mar 9, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
•Old Colorado City (West Center for Intergenerational Learning): Saturday, Mar 16, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
•Ruth Holley Library: Saturday, Mar 23, 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
