5th annual “Guns n” Hoses” charity sled hockey game

The Colorado Springs Sled Hockey Association (CSSHA) is sponsoring the 5th annual “Guns n” Hoses” charity sled hockey game between Colorado Springs Law Enforcement and the Colorado Springs Fire Department. CSSHA is a local non-profit group that helps people with physical disabilities by providing an on ice sport experience to enhance their physical and mental fitness. Currently, sled hockey and sled skating are among only a few sporting activities that allow a disabled person to get out of their wheel chair and participate in sport. Hopefully we can assist in reaching more people with disabilities and get them to try the program. CSSHA is also looking forward to including members of the armed forces to further supplement the Wounded Warriors program.

Doors open at Sertich Ice Center Saturday, March 2nd, 2013 at 1:00pm. Two half-ice kids games, played by Jr. Tiger teams, take place at 1:15pm. The “Gun ‘n Hoses” game starts at 2:15pm and will be divided into two halves; the first half will be as a traditional able-bodied game with guest players to include ex-NHL players Al Pedersen (Boston Bruins) and Scott Parker (Colorado Avalanche). For the second half, players from the police and fire will get into sleds and continue the game to see who will be victorious in winning “The Heroes’ Cup”.

During the 20 minute intermission between halves, another kid’s sled hockey game will be played between the CSSHA team and a team of able-body kids from the Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association (Junior Tigers). Both teams will be in sleds.

Following the Guns 'n Hoses Game, ticket holders may join us for free skating at the arena.
